Recent stats say that each generation moves farther and farther from organized religion, despite how much power the Christian Reich seems to wield these days. This may have something to do with the fact that when people see representation of religion, they see dogma, hatred, violence and oppression.

They see the history which included the crusades, the Spanish Inquisition and Salem witch hunts. They see what the Taliban did in Afghanistan. They see the holy wars going on in the Middle East between Jews and Palestinians, and closer to home, they see how the Christian Reich has been in the forefront of almost every single human rights abuse we have had to face in this country, from slavery, the Klan and Jim Crow, to women not being allowed to vote, let alone govern, to the wars we have engaged ourselves in.

All of these things, in one fashion or another, has been done in the name of God, and if this is what religion is all about, today's generation does not want any part of it. Now if there is anyone reading this that disputes this characterization and says this is unfair, take a good look at one of the most prominent representatives of the Christian faith for over 40 years.

M. G. (Pat) Robertson's Christian Broadcast Network is seen in 180 countries and broadcast in 71 languages. This has made him a very rich man whose reported net worth is between $200 million and $1 billion. Like many of our most successful televangelists, he amassed that fortune appealing to the lowest common faith-based denominator of the religious viewer unfortunate enough to be suckered into his bullshit.

As you can see from his financial stats, that's quite a few suckers that are buying into the ideas that women should be submissive to men and not be allowed positions of leadership over them, that in 1992 the idea of "one man, one vote" should be discarded in the name of protecting the minority of the South African population "which the white people represent now", that the Constitution is only for Christians, that the United States Government should be the target of a nuclear attack (now this guy is from Virginia, which means he is fucked along with the government should this happen - go figure), that Sept. 11 was a result of "a court that has essentially stuck its finger in God's eye and said we're going to legislate you out of the schools" (even though in 1999 Robertson was advocating political assassinations of, among others, Osama bin Laden), that "The Antichrist is probably a Jew alive in Israel today" while "Presbyterians are the spirit of the Antichrist", that you should be immune from any criminal prosecution if it is determined that you were motivated by a message from God, and of course, the obligatory anti-gay declaration that homosexuals will mean "the ultimate destruction of the family and our nation."

Oh, and let's not forget that he hates abortion and communism - unless you are from a country that he has business interests in. Robertson has business dealings with China, so abortion there is AOK to him.

"Well, you know, I don't agree with it," he said on CNN, "but at the same time, they've got 1.2 billion people and they don't know what to do... If every family over there was allowed to have three or four children, the population would be completely unsustainable... so I think that right now they're doing what they have to do."

On the flip side of that he loves the death penalty - unless the condemned is connected to his flock, as convicted murderer Karla Fay Tucker was when she married someone in to the Christian Coalition, spurring Robertson to start up a television campaign to save her life on the grounds that she was a Christian and a changed woman since the day she pick-axed two people to death. No one else who became a Christian while on Death Row was ever given this treatment.

We can simply say that Robertson puts his politics before his faith, and considering that this ordained Southern Baptist minister maintains a Pentecostal theology (yes, it pisses many Southern Baptists off), we would be more accurate in saying that his politics is his faith, and that Christianity has always been nothing more than a very effective tool is furthering political ambitions. This would not be news to those who know even the slightest bit about him, but delve into his background and one can see where this all comes from.

Robertson's website claims his ancestry includes Benjamin Harrison, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and governor of Virginia, and two United States presidents, William Henry Harrison (who was famous for two things, slaughtering a lot of native Americans and dying just over a month after taking office) and Benjamin Harrison, the great-grandson of the signer of the Declaration of Independence. Somehow Winston Churchill is in his ancestry as well apparently (his mother's maiden name was Gladys Churchill).

Born in 1930 in Lexington, Va., his father was A. Willis Robertson who for 34 years served in both the House and the Senate. After graduating from McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a military prep school, Robertson entered Washington and Lee University in 1946, and two years later he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. In 1950 he received his Bachelors and headed off to Korea. According to his website, he says he served as the assistant adjutant of the First Marine Division in combat while there, but let us not forget the old Credence Clearwater Revival song "Fortunate One".

His old pals in the Marines most certainly didn't because in 1986, they contested his painting himself as a "combat Marine". Their recollection of him was as the only Marine with a U.S. Senator for a father. The "Fortunate One" was pulled out of his combat unit and reassigned to a desk job that was so lax, he was known as his unit's "liquor officer," because it was Lt. Robertson's assigned responsibility to keep the officer's club stocked with alcoholic beverages from Japan. He never served a day in combat, so it was understandable why his war "buddies" would be so pissed. In 1988 Robertson ran for president and one wrote this to his local newspaper:

There is a person who calls himself a combat Marine. He is not. His name is Pat Robertson. I saw him often in the division headquarters where he was clean-shaven and clothed and showered. He was in charge of making sure that the officers' booze ration was handed out and re-supplied. He was a lieutenant. He was in my battalion.
The line company marines I saw smelled badly, looked poorly. For months at a time they were cold, eating C-rations. Trying to stay warm and dry was a constant battle. These line-company men were the combat Marines of the First Marine Division. Neither Pat Robertson nor I could carry their gear.
He is trying to get elected by standing on those frozen bodies I saw, by putting himself in the company of those seven Marines who repulsed the enemy. Imagine a person who aspires to be President being so loose with the truth, so lacking in grace and so dishonorable.

He says God talks to him. I'd like to hear what God says to him about this.

Robertson might have responded that God told him to file suit against his detractors, because in 1986 he got involved in a libel lawsuit with Congresspersons Paul McCloskey, who served with Robertson in Korea, and Andrew Jacobs. The suit maintained that in addition to the accusation that his father pulled strings to give Lt. Robertson his cushy job, McCloskey and Jacobs said that he was also carousing with prostitutes and hassling Korean women. In March of 1988 at Robertson's request, a federal judge dismissed "with prejudice" his suit against McCloskey. Robertson is ordered to pay $28,000 of McCloskey's court costs, and is prohibited from suing McCloskey again over the Korea story.

Two years after his hellish experiences in Korea with drunken Marines and prostitutes, Robertson was back stateside, and upon returning he was promoted to first lieutenant in 1952. In 1955 he received a juris doctor degree from Yale University Law School, but he failed the bar exam in the State of New York, which is why he never practiced law.

"When I was at law school, I studied constitutional law for a whole year - I read a thick book of cases on constitutional law," he said in a March 1986 speech to Yale University Law School. "I did all kinds of research. But I confess to you, I never read the Constitution. I graduated without anybody asking me about that."

Robertson went on however, earning a master of divinity degree from New York Theological Seminary in 1959. That was the year he and his wife Dede moved to Tidewater, Virginia. Arriving in November of that year, his intent was to purchase a local bankrupt UHF station, which he did in 1960 for $37,000. He called it the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) and Oct. 1, 1961, it went on the air for the first time. Robertson needed money though, and since the network refused commercial advertisements CBN conducted a telethon in 1963 to raise funds to keep the station alive. Robertson told his viewers that a "club" of 700 contributors, each giving $10 a month, would allow CBN to meet its expenses. Two years later, the annual CBN telethon had been so successful that Robertson added a new program to the end of his station's broadcast day aptly named The 700 Club.

Until the 1960s, CBN was about straight-up religious broadcasting, although rather twisted for a Pentecostal. For one thing, Pentecostals will tell you that no one knows not the time nor season when Christ will return, and that he will do so like a thief in the night. Apparently Robertson thought himself the exception to the rule because he kept predicting (erroneously) when Christ was to return. In May 1980 he said the Tribulation was supposed to be in the Fall of 1982, with the Soviet Union being the focus of all of God's judgment, and according to people who worked with him, as early as 1979, CBN was even making preparations to televise the Second Coming when it happened! Well, the Fall of 1982 came and went without nothing more than a Prince song talking about partying like it's 1999 because in the year 2000 it was "party over oops out of time." Robertson must be a Prince fan, because in 1990, he rescheduled the Tribulation to April 29, 2000. It has been quite sometime since then, so we should be expecting another prediction soon.

It wasn't until the 1980s and the campaign of Ronald Reagan to the presidency that Robertson really started to play in the political field. He spoke at a "Washington for Jesus" rally on April 11, 1980, saying of his fellow "Christians" that "We have enough votes to run the country. And when the people say, "We've had enough," we are going to take over."

A few months later, Reagan was elected president, and Robertson had his angle. It was enough of an angle for him to make some interesting spins on what is binding law and what is not.

"The Constitution of the United States, for instance, is a marvelous document for self-government by the Christian people," he said in December 1981, "but the minute you turn the document into the hands of non-Christian people and atheistic people they can use it to destroy the very foundation of our society. And that's what's been happening."

A few years later he will also declare that whatever the Supreme Court rules does not have to be taken as law.

"I am bound by the laws of the United States and all 50 states...I am not bound by any case or any court to which I myself am not a party," he told the Washington Post in 1986. "I don't think the Congress of the United States is subservient to the courts...They can ignore a Supreme Court ruling if they so choose."

A year later on The 700 Club, he takes this even further.

"Supreme Court decisions are binding in the court systems," he said, "but in terms of general law, which binds every citizen, why should you and I be bound because of the ineptitude, if you will, or the skill of one or more defense lawyers, or the plaintiffs in any particular lawsuit?"

Answer: Because any decision by a court at the federal level becomes law, binding upon all citizens. Those decisions would include those that defend the separation of church and state, and Robertson has a problem with that.

"The First Amendment says Congress shall pass no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof -- nothing about a wall of separation, nothing about separation of church and state!" he said in 1986 "Merely, Congress can't set up a national religion. End of story."

Now remember: Robertson himself cites the fact that he never read the Constitution as the reason why he failed the bar exam!

With this warped sense of the law and the Constitution, one should expect Robertson's worldview to be just as warped, and it is. In a Dec 1984 speech, he laid it out for people.

"I want you to imagine a society where the church members have taken dominion over the forces of the world," he said. "No drug addiction ... pornographers no longer have any access to the public whatsoever ... the people of God inherit the earth ... You say, that's a description of the Millennium when Jesus comes back ... [but] these things can take place now in this time ... and they are going to because I am persuaded that we are standing on the brink of the greatest spiritual revival the world has ever known!"

Robertson began to help this "revival" along by getting himself involved with the Contras in April 1985, attending a fundraising dinner for something called the "Nicaraguan Freedom Fund". Proceeds from this $250-a-plate dinner was supposed to go to equip the Contras, but they barely broke even, despite the fact that Reagan gave the keynote address and Robertson gave the invocation and led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. Nope, that kind of star power was not enough to fund a band of terrorists that the US were not supposed to be supporting anyway, but then again the Nicaraguan Freedom Fund was really set up as a diversion for the critics, The real money flowing to the Contras was getting there on the down low through other channels.

Rotten.com (yes, that Rotten.com) has a good article on Robertson, from which a lot of information is used for this entry. In the article, it notes one of Robertson's more charitable causes as it stood with Central America:

The following month, the Christian Broadcasting Network announced they would be sending $20 million for "humanitarian" supplies to Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. It was supposed to be food and medicine -- supplies "of a strictly humanitarian nature" -- for refugees. CBN paid the $2 million shipping bill. Talking to a reporter aboard a C-130 cargo plane carrying medical supplies, Pat admitted that "some may get to the Contras." Ultimately, CBN was one of the top sources of private funding for the Contras. In appreciation, the guerrillas named one of their units the Pat Robertson Brigade.

Unfortunately for CBN, giving money like this to a government cause would be considered by many to be a political contribution. And, for one thing, it would jeopardize their tax-exempt status. When the news finally broke, they attempted to deny it in a written statement:

"CBN is helping starving and displaced persons in 15 countries, including some in Central America. The help is absolutely non-political. Articles claiming support by CBN of the Contras in Nicaragua are incorrect."

Later, somebody asked Pat about it. He answered:

"The fact is that the Communists make people suffer. If that makes it political, then, I'm sorry, we're still going to help them."

Robertson always seems interested in "helping" where by coincidence it helps his political ambitions. He has defended the apartheid regime of South Africa, the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos in the Philippines (where his son "ministered" for a long time, appearing on that area's 700 Club program), and the State of Israel, earning him numerous awards from the people he said might be the antichrist.

It is not all politics that drives him, however. Sometimes it's strictly business, as we noted was the case in China, but especially in Africa. Both his relationships with Mobutu in Zaire and Charles Taylor in Liberia were a part of his desires to mine for gold and diamonds in those countries, and it made him look bad in both cases. Robertson was called out for using his planes from his tax-exempt charity Operation Blessing to carry cargo for his mining interests in Zaire in an effort to cut costs. In 1996, when rebels were ousting the dictator, Robertson tried to lobby the State Department to reinstate the visa of his friend Mobutu so he could come to the United States. They said no, the rebels took over Zaire, and Mobutu died in exile.

In 2003, President Bush, still in the initial stages of the Iraq War which was supported by Robertson in the name of removing a despot who perpetrated crimes against humanity, also began to make calls for then-Liberian President Charles Taylor to step down in order to halt the Liberian civil war. Robertson, who had an $8 million investment in a Liberian gold mine called "Freedom Gold" (he pulled some bullshit story out of his ass that the mine was intended to help pay for humanitarian and evangelical efforts), did not like that and publicly excoriated Bush for failing to support the leader of a sovereign Christian nation, even if he had perpetrated crimes against humanity on a massive scale. He also accused the U.S. State Department of giving President Bush bad advice, and of trying "as hard as they can to destabilize Liberia". For good measure, he made Muslims the bogeymen.

"We're undermining a Christian, Baptist president to bring in Muslim rebels to take over the country," he said. "And how dare the president of the United States say to the duly elected president of another country, 'You've got to step down.'"

Yeah, how dare he. That is what many progressives have been saying for decades. As was the case with China and Karla Faye Tucker, Robertson again pulled the convenient exception routine. He decided to play dumb on the issue when confronted about it.

"I have never met Taylor in my life," he said. I don't know what he has done or hasn't done. I do know he was elected by the people, and he has maintained a relatively stable government in Liberia; and they observe the rule of law; they have a working legislature; they have courts. And though he may have certain dictatorial powers, so do most leaders in Africa."

Happily Taylor left on his own, ignoring The 700 Club and instead listening to the people of his country that were just outside his door ready to string him up (he is now incarcerated facing charges of war crimes). Meanwhile, other religious leaders were distancing themselves from Robertson. Richard Land, head of the Southern Baptist Convention's public policy.

"I would say that Pat Robertson is way out on his own, in a leaking life raft, on this one," he said.

Robertson has been on that leaking life raft for a good long while, however. His business dealings are sound, but politically speaking he is a nobody. There were two major times in his political career that he gained the most juice. The first was his aforementioned presidential campaign in 1988. On the face it was a big time bust, but in the end it might have helped him more than it hurt. In September 1986, Pat announced that he would be willing to seek the Republican party's nomination for President if three million people would sign up as volunteers on his campaign over the next year. Sure enough, the flock " and their money " came through.

One year later he officially announced his candidacy, and promised to eliminate drugs, pornography, the Departments of Education and Energy, Amtrak, Conrail and The Legal Services Corporation. The Bible would have been reintroduced to classrooms, and he would have severed diplomatic relations with the elected government of Nicaragua and recognize the Contra rebels as the nation's "government in exile." (Hello! Remember his little rant against Bush for trying to depose the elected leader of Liberia")

Unfortunately for Pat, the sex scandals of televangelists Jim Bakker and Jimmy Swaggart, not to mention the Oral Roberts assertion that God was going to call him home if he didn't get a few million in the bank from his supporters, were playing themselves out at the time. If you were a televangelist back then, you were looked upon as the embodiment of evil. Robertson took a hit because of this, despite trying as hard as he could to distance himself from the scandals. The "Combat Marine" thing was what finished him, and in August 1988 at the Republican National Convention, he gave up his bid and endorsed the first George Bush's nomination. A few years later, Robertson was hit with fines for using his organization's tax exempt status to fund his campaign.

Robertson needed to recover, and that recovery came in the form of the Christian Coalition. Since it was pointless for him to run, it was probably a good idea to boost the campaigns of fellow member of the Christian Reich. The Christian Coalition was a flat out political machine and Robertson made no bones about comparing this organization with Tammany Hall, which he did at a Christian Coalition meeting in September of 1997. They were a huge force by that point, credited with the huge Republican victory of 1994 which swept the GOP into majorities in both the House and the Senate. As we have seen however, wherever there is money and Pat Robertson, there are bad ethics. The Christian Coalition was busted for improperly using funds to promote specific candidates, and the Federal Election Commission slapped them with fines. The membership dwindled, and Pat abandoned the organization in December 2001.

Robertson has spent the last few years calling for the oppression of not only Muslims but Hindus as well, whom he considers demonic and the next threat to America. "If anybody understood what Hindus really believe, there would be no doubt that they have no business administering government policies in a country that favors freedom and equality," he wrote in his book The New World Order.

"Can you imagine having the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini as defense minister, or Mahatma Gandhi as minister of health, education, and welfare (Okay, when is the last time you heard a disparaging remark against GANDHI?--OPP)? The Hindu and Buddhist idea of karma and the Muslim idea of kismet, or fate condemn the poor and the disabled to their suffering.... It's the will of Allah. These beliefs are nothing but abject fatalism, and they would devastate the social gains this nation has made if they were ever put into practice."

This is not to say that if you are Christian you get a total pass. Consider yourself fucked if you are anything other than Pentecostal or (maybe) Baptist.

"You say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing," he once said. "Nonsense. I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist. I can love the people who hold false opinions but I don't have to be nice to them."

He also recently decided to do the annual conservative thing of attacking Kwanzaa, calling it "an absolute fraud" during the news segment of Christian Broadcasting Network's The 700 Club Dec. 6, 2004.

"You know, there was no festival in Africa called 'Kwanzaa,"" he said. "I mean, it's made up by a bunch of hippie-types on the West Coast. I mean, it's not something that goes back to Africa. No way."

For the record, Kwanzaa was founded in 1966 by Maulana Karenga, professor and chair of the black studies department at California State University, Long Beach. He founded the holiday as "an African American and Pan-African holiday" based on ancient African history and culture, and neither he or anyone who celebrated the holiday has ever said it was an old African festival. Only idiots like Robertson are saying that.

Robertson's own website notes that in 1992, he was selected by Newsweek magazine as one of America's 100 Cultural Elite. The fact that he would boast of this himself is curious. In 1992, the term "cultural elite" was used by conservatives (including Robertson) to denigrate liberals during then-Gov. Clinton's first run for President as forcing values on America that did not reflect what America was about. No wonder they stopped using it.

As Robertson seems ready to admit, they are the true face of the cultural elite. What Robertson and his ilk had better understand is that a free people will not - and do not - tolerate this. That is quite evident from how other religious leaders close to him view him these days.

"Every time he opens his mouth he's an embarrassment to Christianity," said the Rev. Joseph C. Hough Jr., president of New York City's Union Theological Seminary, the same place Robertson received his master of divinity over forty years ago.

More people of faith need to think like that if they want their flock to return, otherwise Robertson and others like him will become their own personal Satan chasing that flock away every time.

After graduating from McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a military prep school, Robertson entered Washington and Lee University in 1946, and two years later he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. In 1950 he received his Bachelors and headed off to Korea. According to his website, he says he served as the assistant adjutant of the First Marine Division in combat while there, but let us not forget the old Credence Clearwater Revival song "Fortunate One".

His old pals in the Marines most certainly didn't because in 1986, they contested his painting himself as a "combat Marine". Their recollection of him was as the only Marine with a U.S. Senator for a father. The "Fortunate One" was pulled out of his combat unit and reassigned to a desk job that was so lax, he was known as his unit's "liquor officer," because it was Lt. Robertson's assigned responsibility to keep the officer's club stocked with alcoholic beverages from Japan. He never served a day in combat, so it was understandable why his war "buddies" would be so pissed. In 1988 Robertson ran for president and one wrote this to his local newspaper:

There is a person who calls himself a combat Marine. He is not. His name is Pat Robertson. I saw him often in the division headquarters where he was clean-shaven and clothed and showered. He was in charge of making sure that the officers' booze ration was handed out and re-supplied. He was a lieutenant. He was in my battalion.
The line company marines I saw smelled badly, looked poorly. For months at a time they were cold, eating C-rations. Trying to stay warm and dry was a constant battle. These line-company men were the combat Marines of the First Marine Division. Neither Pat Robertson nor I could carry their gear.
He is trying to get elected by standing on those frozen bodies I saw, by putting himself in the company of those seven Marines who repulsed the enemy. Imagine a person who aspires to be President being so loose with the truth, so lacking in grace and so dishonorable.

He says God talks to him. I'd like to hear what God says to him about this.

Robertson might have responded that God told him to file suit against his detractors, because in 1986 he got involved in a libel lawsuit with Congresspersons Paul McCloskey, who served with Robertson in Korea, and Andrew Jacobs. The suit maintained that in addition to the accusation that his father pulled strings to give Lt. Robertson his cushy job, McCloskey and Jacobs said that he was also carousing with prostitutes and hassling Korean women. In March of 1988 at Robertson's request, a federal judge dismissed "with prejudice" his suit against McCloskey. Robertson is ordered to pay $28,000 of McCloskey's court costs, and is prohibited from suing McCloskey again over the Korea story.

Two years after his hellish experiences in Korea with drunken Marines and prostitutes, Robertson was back stateside, and upon returning he was promoted to first lieutenant in 1952. In 1955 he received a juris doctor degree from Yale University Law School, but he failed the bar exam in the State of New York, which is why he never practiced law.

"When I was at law school, I studied constitutional law for a whole year - I read a thick book of cases on constitutional law," he said in a March 1986 speech to Yale University Law School. "I did all kinds of research. But I confess to you, I never read the Constitution. I graduated without anybody asking me about that."

Robertson went on however, earning a master of divinity degree from New York Theological Seminary in 1959. That was the year he and his wife Dede moved to Tidewater, Virginia. Arriving in November of that year, his intent was to purchase a local bankrupt UHF station, which he did in 1960 for $37,000. He called it the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) and Oct. 1, 1961, it went on the air for the first time. Robertson needed money though, and since the network refused commercial advertisements CBN conducted a telethon in 1963 to raise funds to keep the station alive. Robertson told his viewers that a "club" of 700 contributors, each giving $10 a month, would allow CBN to meet its expenses. Two years later, the annual CBN telethon had been so successful that Robertson added a new program to the end of his station's broadcast day aptly named The 700 Club.

Until the 1960s, CBN was about straight-up religious broadcasting, although rather twisted for a Pentecostal. For one thing, Pentecostals will tell you that no one knows not the time nor season when Christ will return, and that he will do so like a thief in the night. Apparently Robertson thought himself the exception to the rule because he kept predicting (erroneously) when Christ was to return. In May 1980 he said the Tribulation was supposed to be in the Fall of 1982, with the Soviet Union being the focus of all of God's judgment, and according to people who worked with him, as early as 1979, CBN was even making preparations to televise the Second Coming when it happened! Well, the Fall of 1982 came and went without nothing more than a Prince song talking about partying like it's 1999 because in the year 2000 it was "party over oops out of time." Robertson must be a Prince fan, because in 1990, he rescheduled the Tribulation to April 29, 2000. It has been quite sometime since then, so we should be expecting another prediction soon.

It wasn't until the 1980s and the campaign of Ronald Reagan to the presidency that Robertson really started to play in the political field. He spoke at a "Washington for Jesus" rally on April 11, 1980, saying of his fellow "Christians" that "We have enough votes to run the country. And when the people say, "We've had enough," we are going to take over."

A few months later, Reagan was elected president, and Robertson had his angle. It was enough of an angle for him to make some interesting spins on what is binding law and what is not.

"The Constitution of the United States, for instance, is a marvelous document for self-government by the Christian people," he said in December 1981, "but the minute you turn the document into the hands of non-Christian people and atheistic people they can use it to destroy the very foundation of our society. And that's what's been happening."

A few years later he will also declare that whatever the Supreme Court rules does not have to be taken as law.

"I am bound by the laws of the United States and all 50 states...I am not bound by any case or any court to which I myself am not a party," he told the Washington Post in 1986. "I don't think the Congress of the United States is subservient to the courts...They can ignore a Supreme Court ruling if they so choose."

A year later on The 700 Club, he takes this even further.

"Supreme Court decisions are binding in the court systems," he said, "but in terms of general law, which binds every citizen, why should you and I be bound because of the ineptitude, if you will, or the skill of one or more defense lawyers, or the plaintiffs in any particular lawsuit?"

Answer: Because any decision by a court at the federal level becomes law, binding upon all citizens. Those decisions would include those that defend the separation of church and state, and Robertson has a problem with that.

"The First Amendment says Congress shall pass no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof -- nothing about a wall of separation, nothing about separation of church and state!" he said in 1986 "Merely, Congress can't set up a national religion. End of story."

Now remember: Robertson himself cites the fact that he never read the Constitution as the reason why he failed the bar exam!

With this warped sense of the law and the Constitution, one should expect Robertson's worldview to be just as warped, and it is. In a Dec 1984 speech, he laid it out for people.

"I want you to imagine a society where the church members have taken dominion over the forces of the world," he said. "No drug addiction ... pornographers no longer have any access to the public whatsoever ... the people of God inherit the earth ... You say, that's a description of the Millennium when Jesus comes back ... [but] these things can take place now in this time ... and they are going to because I am persuaded that we are standing on the brink of the greatest spiritual revival the world has ever known!"

Robertson began to help this "revival" along by getting himself involved with the Contras in April 1985, attending a fundraising dinner for something called the "Nicaraguan Freedom Fund". Proceeds from this $250-a-plate dinner was supposed to go to equip the Contras, but they barely broke even, despite the fact that Reagan gave the keynote address and Robertson gave the invocation and led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. Nope, that kind of star power was not enough to fund a band of terrorists that the US were not supposed to be supporting anyway, but then again the Nicaraguan Freedom Fund was really set up as a diversion for the critics, The real money flowing to the Contras was getting there on the down low through other channels.

Rotten.com (yes, that Rotten.com) has a good article on Robertson, from which a lot of information is used for this entry. In the article, it notes one of Robertson's more charitable causes as it stood with Central America:

The following month, the Christian Broadcasting Network announced they would be sending $20 million for "humanitarian" supplies to Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. It was supposed to be food and medicine -- supplies "of a strictly humanitarian nature" -- for refugees. CBN paid the $2 million shipping bill. Talking to a reporter aboard a C-130 cargo plane carrying medical supplies, Pat admitted that "some may get to the Contras." Ultimately, CBN was one of the top sources of private funding for the Contras. In appreciation, the guerrillas named one of their units the Pat Robertson Brigade.

Unfortunately for CBN, giving money like this to a government cause would be considered by many to be a political contribution. And, for one thing, it would jeopardize their tax-exempt status. When the news finally broke, they attempted to deny it in a written statement:

"CBN is helping starving and displaced persons in 15 countries, including some in Central America. The help is absolutely non-political. Articles claiming support by CBN of the Contras in Nicaragua are incorrect."

Later, somebody asked Pat about it. He answered:

"The fact is that the Communists make people suffer. If that makes it political, then, I'm sorry, we're still going to help them."

Robertson always seems interested in "helping" where by coincidence it helps his political ambitions. He has defended the apartheid regime of South Africa, the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos in the Philippines (where his son "ministered" for a long time, appearing on that area's 700 Club program), and the State of Israel, earning him numerous awards from the people he said might be the antichrist.

It is not all politics that drives him, however. Sometimes it's strictly business, as we noted was the case in China, but especially in Africa. Both his relationships with Mobutu in Zaire and Charles Taylor in Liberia were a part of his desires to mine for gold and diamonds in those countries, and it made him look bad in both cases. Robertson was called out for using his planes from his tax-exempt charity Operation Blessing to carry cargo for his mining interests in Zaire in an effort to cut costs. In 1996, when rebels were ousting the dictator, Robertson tried to lobby the State Department to reinstate the visa of his friend Mobutu so he could come to the United States. They said no, the rebels took over Zaire, and Mobutu died in exile.

In 2003, President Bush, still in the initial stages of the Iraq War which was supported by Robertson in the name of removing a despot who perpetrated crimes against humanity, also began to make calls for then-Liberian President Charles Taylor to step down in order to halt the Liberian civil war. Robertson, who had an $8 million investment in a Liberian gold mine called "Freedom Gold" (he pulled some bullshit story out of his ass that the mine was intended to help pay for humanitarian and evangelical efforts), did not like that and publicly excoriated Bush for failing to support the leader of a sovereign Christian nation, even if he had perpetrated crimes against humanity on a massive scale. He also accused the U.S. State Department of giving President Bush bad advice, and of trying "as hard as they can to destabilize Liberia". For good measure, he made Muslims the bogeymen.

"We're undermining a Christian, Baptist president to bring in Muslim rebels to take over the country," he said. "And how dare the president of the United States say to the duly elected president of another country, 'You've got to step down.'"

Yeah, how dare he. That is what many progressives have been saying for decades. As was the case with China and Karla Faye Tucker, Robertson again pulled the convenient exception routine. He decided to play dumb on the issue when confronted about it.

"I have never met Taylor in my life," he said. I don't know what he has done or hasn't done. I do know he was elected by the people, and he has maintained a relatively stable government in Liberia; and they observe the rule of law; they have a working legislature; they have courts. And though he may have certain dictatorial powers, so do most leaders in Africa."

Happily Taylor left on his own, ignoring The 700 Club and instead listening to the people of his country that were just outside his door ready to string him up (he is now incarcerated facing charges of war crimes). Meanwhile, other religious leaders were distancing themselves from Robertson. Richard Land, head of the Southern Baptist Convention's public policy.

"I would say that Pat Robertson is way out on his own, in a leaking life raft, on this one," he said.

Robertson has been on that leaking life raft for a good long while, however. His business dealings are sound, but politically speaking he is a nobody. There were two major times in his political career that he gained the most juice. The first was his aforementioned presidential campaign in 1988. On the face it was a big time bust, but in the end it might have helped him more than it hurt. In September 1986, Pat announced that he would be willing to seek the Republican party's nomination for President if three million people would sign up as volunteers on his campaign over the next year. Sure enough, the flock " and their money " came through.

One year later he officially announced his candidacy, and promised to eliminate drugs, pornography, the Departments of Education and Energy, Amtrak, Conrail and The Legal Services Corporation. The Bible would have been reintroduced to classrooms, and he would have severed diplomatic relations with the elected government of Nicaragua and recognize the Contra rebels as the nation's "government in exile." (Hello! Remember his little rant against Bush for trying to depose the elected leader of Liberia")

Unfortunately for Pat, the sex scandals of televangelists Jim Bakker and Jimmy Swaggart, not to mention the Oral Roberts assertion that God was going to call him home if he didn't get a few million in the bank from his supporters, were playing themselves out at the time. If you were a televangelist back then, you were looked upon as the embodiment of evil. Robertson took a hit because of this, despite trying as hard as he could to distance himself from the scandals. The "Combat Marine" thing was what finished him, and in August 1988 at the Republican National Convention, he gave up his bid and endorsed the first George Bosh's nomination. A few years later, Robertson was hit with fines for using his organization's tax exempt status to fund his campaign.

Robertson needed to recover, and that recovery came in the form of the Christian Coalition. Since it was pointless for him to run, it was probably a good idea to boost the campaigns of fellow member of the Christian Reich. The Christian Coalition was a flat out political machine and Robertson made no bones about comparing this organization with Tammany Hall, which he did at a Christian Coalition meeting in September of 1997. They were a huge force by that point, credited with the huge Republican victory of 1994 which swept the GOP into majorities in both the House and the Senate. As we have seen however, wherever there is money and Pat Robertson, there are bad ethics. The Christian Coalition was busted for improperly using funds to promote specific candidates, and the Federal Election Commission slapped them with fines. The membership dwindled, and Pat abandoned the organization in December 2001.

Robertson has spent the last few years calling for the oppression of not only Muslims but Hindus as well, whom he considers demonic and the next threat to America. "If anybody understood what Hindus really believe, there would be no doubt that they have no business administering government policies in a country that favors freedom and equality," he wrote in his book The New World Order. "Can you imagine having the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini as defense minister, or Mahatma Gandhi as minister of health, education, and welfare (Okay, when is the last time you heard a disparaging remark against GANDHI?--OPP)? The Hindu and Buddhist idea of karma and the Muslim idea of kismet, or fate condemn the poor and the disabled to their suffering.... It's the will of Allah. These beliefs are nothing but abject fatalism, and they would devastate the social gains this nation has made if they were ever put into practice."

This is not to say that if you are Christian you get a total pass. Consider yourself fucked if you are anything other than Pentecostal or (maybe) Baptist. "You say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing," he once said. "Nonsense. I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist. I can love the people who hold false opinions but I don't have to be nice to them."

He also recently decided to do the annual conservative thing of attacking Kwanzaa, calling it "an absolute fraud" during the news segment of Christian Broadcasting Network's The 700 Club Dec. 6, 2004. "You know, there was no festival in Africa called 'Kwanzaa,"" he said. "I mean, it's made up by a bunch of hippie-types on the West Coast. I mean, it's not something that goes back to Africa. No way." For the record, Kwanzaa was founded in 1966 by Maulana Karenga, professor and chair of the black studies department at California State University, Long Beach. He founded the holiday as "an African American and Pan-African holiday" based on ancient African history and culture, and neither he or anyone who celebrated the holiday has ever said it was an old African festival. Only idiots like Robertson are saying that.

Robertson's own website notes that in 1992, he was selected by Newsweek magazine as one of America's 100 Cultural Elite. The fact that he would boast of this himself is curious. In 1992, the term "cultural elite" was used by conservatives (including Robertson) to denigrate liberals during then-Gov. Clinton's first run for President as forcing values on America that did not reflect what America was about. No wonder they stopped using it. As Robertson seems ready to admit, they are the true face of the cultural elite. What Robertson and his ilk had better understand is that a free people will not - and do not - tolerate this. That is quite evident from how other religious leaders close to him view him these days. "Every time he opens his mouth he's an embarrassment to Christianity," said the Rev. Joseph C. Hough Jr., president of New York City's Union Theological Seminary, the same place Robertson received his master of divinity over forty years ago. More people of faith need to think like that if they want their flock to return, otherwise Robertson and others like him will become their own personal Satan chasing that flock away every time.

Now THIS is a piece of shit! Phelps is quite possibly the nastiest anti-gay character going today (Chuck Spingola is trying, but he's not even close). He is best-known for his local and national picketing which he misnames his "street ministry". Particularly he will picket the funeral of a prominent persons, such as President Clinton's mother. Many people acquainted with Phelps mistakenly believe he pickets only the funerals of homosexuals and/or AIDS victims. Not true. He pickets anyone, anywhere whose funeral is likely to draw media attention and/or large crowds.

Crowds and publicity are the two magnets that attract this scumbag. He also cranks out from 3-10 obscene, slanderous fliers each week and faxes them to media, businesses and government agencies throughout the city whether they want them or not. He mislabels this endeavor "his fax ministry". ANYONE who disagrees with him or challenges him regardless of sexual preference is a "fag", "bull dyke", "whore" and/or "bastard" on billboard-sized signs painted with bright neon letters and all referenced by Biblical chapters and verses. In 1995, there were objections to an advertisement for a gay and lesbian youth hotline and support group in a Tecumseh, KS high school newspaper, for allegedly advertising illegal activities and for allegedly not reflecting the school's abstinence-based curriculum. After the school board claimed it violated the state's law against sodomy, the ad was removed, although no other school in the state removed the ad.

Phelps jumped into the fray by creating an ad that directly mocked and countered the ad. His ad warned teenagers against the support group as "a...homosexual propaganda mill and recruiting depot to a lifestyle that is criminal...and...sinful" He allegedly threatened to sue any school that refused to ran the ad and most did.

Phelps is an embittered 65 year old former lawyer and convicted criminal who was disbarred several years ago in both state and federal courts because he lied to and about judges, cheated his clients, abused every facet of the legal profession and its powers in and out of court and otherwise behaved boorishly in and out of court.

His "church" consists entirely of family members who live in close proximity to the church and to one another. A 12-foot high privacy fence surrounds their compound, and "church" membership is of course closed to the general public. Phelps or the designated adult child collect the paychecks of his adult children and sons and daughters in law, removes their "tithes" and allocates the remainder of their money as he sees fit. Four of his 13 children have left him and say he beat them and his wife unmercifully for many years, forced them as children to sell candy door to door to support him while he attended law school, and cheated the IRS out of thousands of dollars for years.

Three other "church" members have also been convicted of crimes and Fred and his 300 lb. lawyer son, Jonathan, went on trial some time ago on still more criminal charges. All of his children still attached to him, most of them lawyers, are angry, grossly obese, obsessive-compulsive freaks who misuse their law degrees to bully and intimidate the local populace into tolerating their illegal conduct. They file dozens of frivolous lawsuits against public officials and private citizens every year clogging and have kept state and federal courts clogged up with these lawsuits for the last three years. (This is just a continuation of one of the patterns of conduct that got Phelps disbarred and 3 of his lawyer children severely disciplined in the late 1980's.)

He's lost just about every one of them and will soon be ordered to pay the state hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees (odds are he'll declare bankruptcy). The kids also frequently chase people in their cars leaning out of their car windows, gesturing with their middle fingers, yelling obscenities and writing obscenities on notebook paper and holding it against car windows.

There is NOTHING they won't do to further their goals: vandalism, covert surveillance, harassing phone calls, anonymous threats, etc. and they indeed have intimidated many in Topeka. They have bought off a few politicians who were able to keep them from being arrested for three years until the scheme was investigated by the sheriff and exposed. The chief of police resigned in disgrace because he's ordered Topeka police not to arrest the Phelpses even if they observed illegal conduct. Most of the time, the police wouldn't even take complaints of Phelps illegal conduct from citizens. But that's changed.

According to Phelps, his homebase of Topeka, Kansas is "the most evil spot on the face of the earth, where Satan's seat is - whose zipcodes bear the Mark of the Beast; where bloody, state-sponsored religious persecution on a scale not seen since the days of the Spanish Inquisition rages against humble Baptist preachers - whose monicker (nickname) is The Golden City as in ancient Babylon, city of whores and harlots and whose mascot, The Ichabod, means "the glory of God has departed." A few months ago he tried to get a new pickup truck that has two large plywood rear panels that read "Dole heart (for loves) Fags" off the tax rolls claiming that the truck is used solely and exclusively for religious purposes. The state Board of Tax Appeals denied his request and Phelps is suing.

He requires all the women in his "church" to wear their hair past their considerable waists in "subjection" to him.

Phelps is also a close friend of Greg Dixon, pastor of the Indianapolis Baptist Temple which actually is no longer a church the IRS having taken away their church status. Phelps often refers to Dixon in his faxes and radio show, and last October during the nationwide Christian Identity gatherings, Phelps addressed Dixon's assemly in Indianapolis. Dixon is the founder of the American Coalition of Unregistered Churches, a front group for tax protestors/Posse Comitatus.

Phelps is nose-deep in the Posse Comitatus himself. Four of his close associates, whom he occasionally lists on the 'church' roster when advantageous in his lawsuits, are self-confessed members of the Posse, various local militias, and the Freemen. One of the Freemen arrested in Montana, Jon Barry Nelson, is/was a member of our local Freemen group that included several WBC members.

Remember this the next time the "lesser of two evils" crowd starts with their routines again to try and stifle third-party voting.

This is the man that most white racist idiots swore by. If it is on a white racist bent, chances are it has a William Pierce connection. Pierce was the head of the National Alliance, a white supremacist group based in West Virginia. Pierce, under the pen name Andrew MacDonald, was also the author of The Turner Diaries, a racist novel that many say inspired Tim McVeigh in his bombing of the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City. Pierce's influence is felt all over the country in every facet of white supremacist activism, whether it is David Duke's work (Duke's right hand man Bruce Alan Breeding, a/k/a Vince Edwards, runs the National Alliance in Tampa FL), music (Pierce bought Resistance Records from former RaHoWa lead singer George Burdi when he was facing legal troubles) and even mainstream politics (National Alliance members are among those of the Council of Conservative Citizens, a group that Rep. Bob Barr spoke before and who Senate Minority Leader Trent Lott and other politicians have strong ties to). It is said that Pierce was also a member of a prestigious country club in the Washington DC area called the University Club, however that has not been confirmed, and it may be possible that the Club has since expelled Pierce.

Pierce started his career in hate politics while he was an assistant professor of physics at Oregon State University in the early 1960s. There he briefly joins the John Birch Society, a popular group at the time for fascists.

By 1966 he was ready to join the American Nazi Party headed up by George Lincoln Rockwell, leaving a job as a senior research scientist at a aerospace firm in Connecticut to do so. It is at this time he started a rag called the National Socialist World as some sort of newspaper for the Nazis. The following year, Rockwell dismisses one of his lieutenants, John C. Patler after accusing him of pitting light-skinned whites against dark-skinned whites. In response, Patler puts an end to Rockwell's miserable life in an Arlington, Virginia as he was driving out of a shopping center parking lot. This is an opportunity for Pierce, who starts moving up the ranks. In 1968 he joins Youth for Wallace, and organization that supports George Wallace's run for the presidency.

Along with Pierce is Liberty Lobby's Willis Carto, and together they change Youth for Wallace into the National Youth Alliance in 1970, working under the mantra

"Free men are not equal. Equal men are not free."

They apparently felt that neither of them were each other's equal because a rift forms over who is going to be the leader, causing them to split. Pierce gains control of the group and the rift becomes a full-on feud, Carto accusing Pierce of stealing a Liberty Lobby mailing list, and Pierce writing those on the list to attack Liberty Lobby leaders.

By 1974, Pierce wants to expand the National Youth Alliance, whose membership is limited to people under 30 and whose activities are focused on college campuses. Pierce reorganizes the National Youth Alliance to the National Alliance, and the organizations goal is to be a vanguard party leading the "lemmings" to revolutionary victory. His self-termed "handbook for white victory", The Turner Diaries is published in 1978 which goes on to be the white racist's bible of sorts. It is so much so that a lumberjack named Robert Matthews, who is Pierce's Pacific Northwest leader, forms a group called the Order, which is based on the group of racist guerillas of the same name in The Turner Diaries.

This group goes on to rob $4 million from armored cars (which many believe but have never proved went into Pierce's pockets) and to killed Alan Berg, a popular Jewish-talk show host in Denver. Matthews is later killed in a shootout with FBI agents in Washington State, but the controversy never slows down Pierce.

Soon Pierce was looking for more legitimate way to make his group turn a profit. In 1987 the National Alliance purchases 100 shares of AT&T stock. With this they do fun things like make stockholder proposals calling for an end to business ties with Israel. The proposal go on to be voted down every year it comes up. Over the next few years, The National Alliance becomes a propaganda publishing mill, Pierce writing a second novel called Hunter which is about a racist assassin, and making cassette tapes of racist speeches. In December, 1991, American Dissident Voices, the National Alliance shortwave radio show begins, and in 1993 the group starts publishing New World Order Comix.
It was not all roses and glory for Pierce, however.

In 1996 the Southern Poverty Law Center win an $85,000 judgment against him for his role in a scheme to keep Church of the Creator assets from the family of a murdered sailor named Harold Mansfield. The COTC tried to keep the family from collecting a $1 million judgment by transferring its assets to Pierce, and it did not work. It is also only a matter of time before hate crimes are directly tied to the National Alliance, and Pierce suffers the same fate as Richard Butler and Tom Metzger. Pierce still remained to the end just as much the racist moron he had always been, and considering how much money it has made him over the past few decades, there was no reason for him to quit.

On July 23, 2002, the devil said Pierce has done enough and called him home to Hell at 12:00 Noon.

If there's a racist website with a message board or forum, one can almost guarantee that "Exterminance", better known to his friends, family (those few that he still maintains some contact with), and co-workers at a local restaurant where he works as a dishwasher as Bill Noble, is among the regular posters. Bill is a fixture on the Stormfront and VNN forums as well as the now defunct Western Canada For Us (WCFU) forums, and has attempted to become a moderator on some of these forums (though he has become the moderator of a racist website whose webmasters are based in Prince Edward Island).

Though Noble looks like he's trying to become a player, it is because of Bill Noble's presence on the world wide web, and not for his own significant participation in the racist movement for which there is little to no evidence of due to his relative isolation in a small community in northern British Columbia, Canada, that this entry has been created. This entry can also be viewed as a case study of the typical character found amongst the racist right.

Bill Noble, born April 8, 1976, lived the majority of his youth in seclusion in the British Columbian wilderness near Lillooet Lake. His parents, whom Noble has referred to as hippies, lived what can be described as an alternative lifestyle, residing with their children (Bill has at least two sisters, one of whom is in a relationship with an First Nations man) in a trailer in relative isolation. Noble was also home schooled until he was a teen, though his parents eventually enrolled him in high school.

Now, put some tall skinny kid who has been isolated from people his own age for much of his life - which could only have limited his social skills considerably - and whose family might be considered weird into a high school and one can quickly establish that Noble would fast become a subject of ridicule and abuse. This is apparently what happened, as Noble was mercilessly bullied throughout high school. To this day Noble, who has admitted on sites such as Stormfront that he cannot fight, is concerned with the idea of being the subject of a physical attack; he claims to carry a knife with him for protection.

For not being able to live a "normal life", Noble came to resent his parents. He has not had contact with either of his parents, who now appear to be divorced, for a number of years. He still is in contact with his sisters, but is afraid to come out of the closet to them regarding his racist beliefs.

Noble spent a number of years experimenting with various ideologies (he claims to have been a Muslim and a Buddhist at one point, but now says he's agnostic) until he finally decided he was a racist:

It's hard to say just when I really woke up; for me, it was a long, slow, gradual process, and I can't even recall the first time I considered the possibility that just maybe the racist perspective was worth considering, instead of reflexively condemning it as I was trained to do. And even after I did consider it, I was a fence-sitter for the longest time. But, gradually I came to understand the key role played by the Aryan race in the creation and maintenance of civilized society. I came to see two directions that humanity could move in: back to the animals and wilderness we emerged from - or forward to the stars. Now I can't look at a starry night sky without thinking
"I must have millions of my children on all the planets around those stars!"
The alternative, fading back to savagery and senescence, is an abhorrent notion to me. And I see no third alternative, no "steady state" to society - like the 81st Precept of David Lane states,
"Nothing in Nature is static; either the life force grows and expands, or it decays and dies."
So, Forward is the only option I see, and "forward" means saving the authors of civilization, the Aryan race, from the destruction being wreaked upon it.

When reading many of his posts in Stormfront, VNN, or his own blog, one will note Noble's slavish devotion to David Lane's Eighty-Eight Precepts and the Twenty-Five Points of National Socialism. However, Noble has a few ideas of his own as well. In response to a thread in Stormfront entitled, "Europeans will die out in 200 years" Noble posts the following:

I recommend a three-step plan:

1) Nightfall. In which all racially aware Whites retreat to the far North, especially in Canada and Europe. We wait and watch as Jews and White lemmings alike are eaten alive by the rising tides of darkness, and civilization itself succumbs to savagery - hence 'Nightfall', as darkness swallows everything.

2) Sunrise. With no Jews to forbid us or teach us to hate ourselves, we advance and reclaim old territories, dealing with savages as savages are meant to be dealt with - and I don't mean dishing out welfare checks.

3) The Day of the Rope. Only a society with absolute dedication to proper justice can hope to prevent the lunacy of Liberalism from once more taking hold and making a mess like today's, with open doors for all immigrating aliens, and criminals having more rights than their victims.

I plan to take a wife and retreat to the forests of the North-West Territories. I shall build a log cabin for myself and my wife, and some greenhouses; and then I shall build more log cabins, and invite other WN couples to join us. Bring Peltin wheels and Alaskan sawmills. Strive, survive, succeed!

Who the hell talks like this? Yes, ladies, believe it or not, Bill is single, though you could hook up with, as he has posted his profile on an online dating site and seems to be actively seeking for someone to love and to hold on the Stormfront forums (check it out for the pure entertainment value it offers the reader).

Actually, the above quote highlights the fantasy world Bill Noble has created for himself. You see, if his plan to move up north to start his own little Elohim City doesn't work out, he does have an alternative plan; Antarctica or Mars. The following was posted in Stormfront under "Building a Bunker for RaHoWa" in the Stormfront Canada forum:

A harsher environment forges a harder people. The White race was forged in the womb that was Ice Age Europe. The two most appealing lands for White colonization are, in my opinion, Canada's Far North and Antarctica'.

[In response to Dankorp's question, "Antartica......what the crap' Explain."] Cold environment, sparse resources. It'd be a real trial to hack a civilization out of that wasteland... on the easy-breezy side, we shouldn't have to worry about too much non-White immigration'

[In response to Dankorp's question, "Just out of curiosity, how much research have you done on antartica'''".] Just basic reading on it. Temperatures get down to -80 Celsius; most food sources would be near the shore (penguins, seals, fish, etc.) other than what we could grow in greenhouses.

I think colonizing Antarctica would be great practice for preparing to colonize an inhospitable planet such as Mars.

Suffice it to say, some of the other posters were somewhat embarrassed by Noble's post, a sentiment summed up in the following message:

"It might also be a good plan to keep ideas that would make 99.9% of the population question your sanity to yourself."

Noble's other postings are also enlightening, if less amusing, such as his admiration of a mass murderer:

He shot at Flynt? After the Day of the Rope I say we build a 500 foot statue of Joseph Paul Franklin [Joseph Paul Franklin, who in the late 70s and early 80s engaged in a campaign of race-based homicides and shot porn king Larry Flynt].

Man, when I think of the goings-on at my place of employment... it'd be nice for someone like Joseph drop by for lunch.

I need to stop being Nice and start being more, um... Orderly [a reference to Robert Matthew's terrorist group, the Order.]

In the above quotes, one will notice a reference to the infamous, "day of the rope", a phrase popularized by William Pierce in his novel, The Turner Diaries. Noble claims not to advocate violence (he has stated that he has never read Pierce's book and is not familiar with what Pierce intended to mean when he wrote of the day of the rope). Given how deeply Noble has immersed himself in the racist movement, and given he has a hand drawn picture on his blog of one of the punishments he would mete out on this day of the rope (hanging certain classes of "criminals" with their own intestines), To us, this is a tad disingenuous.

As stated, Noble isn't a significant player in far right circles. However, he did add an interesting footnote in the case of Matt Hale who was recently convicted of trying to have a judge who ruled against him in a trademark suit murdered. Hale was convicted in part due to the testimony of Tony Evola, Hale's former bodyguard and a police informant. Noble, posting as Exterminance in the VNN Forums posted the address and phone number of Anthony Evola from outside Chicago, "In Case Anyone Wants To Say Hi" Of course, Evola was inundated with threatening messages that were left on his answering machine. The problem is, this was the WRONG Tony Evola (http://www.splcenter.org/intel/intelreport/article.jsp'pid=791).

Althought the original post has disappeared, Bill posted a follow-up in the VNN Forums:

I posted the address, having copied it from a post in Stormfront's 'lounge' only minutes after it appeared there. Apparently the original poster got it from Google. I really should have asked him about his sources before relaying the info.

Some of the harrassing callers most likely originated from viewing my posting of the info. Think I should phone up the innocent Mr. Evola and apologize, or should I just let it go and let him get some peace?

Hmmm, we wonder how that conversation would go, Bill?

Noble is currently trying to recruit skinheads in the area for his own racist group; at this point the membership consists of Noble only. In fact, Noble appears to be styling himself as the next Fuhrer, his idol, as he has posted pictures of himself sporting a Hitler moustache.

In the interest of full disclosure, we should note that Noble has also taken an interest in little ol' us. He has made the claim (untrue) that posting the addresses and phone numbers of known racists is intended for the purposes of committing crimes against them. Noble's "OPP Watch" where he takes screen shots of posts in the forums, post them on his site, and analyses them, has been a source of amusement for a number of the members. Noble has been trying very hard to "expose" OPP as a violent organization. As part of his evidence he cites a post by former OPP forum member Jeff Huxton. If there's a racist website with a message board or forum, one can almost guarantee that "Exterminance", better known to his friends, family (those few that he still maintains some contact with), and co-workers at a local restaurant where he works as a dishwasher as Bill Noble, is among the regular posters. Bill is a fixture on the Stormfront and VNN forums as well as the now defunct Western Canada For Us (WCFU) forums, and has attempted to become a moderator on some of these forums (though he has become the moderator of a racist website whose webmasters are based in Prince Edward Island).

Though Noble looks like he's trying to become a player, it is because of Bill Noble's presence on the world wide web, and not for his own significant participation in the racist movement for which there is little to no evidence of due to his relative isolation in a small community in northern British Columbia, Canada, that this entry has been created. This entry can also be viewed as a case study of the typical character found amongst the racist right.

Bill Noble, born April 8, 1976, lived the majority of his youth in seclusion in the British Columbian wilderness near Lillooet Lake. His parents, whom Noble has referred to as hippies, lived what can be described as an alternative lifestyle, residing with their children (Bill has at least two sisters, one of whom is in a relationship with an First Nations man) in a trailer in relative isolation. Noble was also home schooled until he was a teen, though his parents eventually enrolled him in high school.

Now, put some tall skinny kid who has been isolated from people his own age for much of his life - which could only have limited his social skills considerably - and whose family might be considered weird into a high school and one can quickly establish that Noble would fast become a subject of ridicule and abuse. This is apparently what happened, as Noble was mercilessly bullied throughout high school. To this day Noble, who has admitted on sites such as Stormfront that he cannot fight, is concerned with the idea of being the subject of a physical attack; he claims to carry a knife with him for protection.

For not being able to live a "normal life", Noble came to resent his parents. He has not had contact with either of his parents, who now appear to be divorced, for a number of years. He still is in contact with his sisters, but is afraid to come out of the closet to them regarding his racist beliefs.

Noble spent a number of years experimenting with various ideologies (he claims to have been a Muslim and a Buddhist at one point, but now says he's agnostic) until he finally decided he was a racist:

It's hard to say just when I really woke up; for me, it was a long, slow, gradual process, and I can't even recall the first time I considered the possibility that just maybe the racist perspective was worth considering, instead of reflexively condemning it as I was trained to do. And even after I did consider it, I was a fence-sitter for the longest time. But, gradually I came to understand the key role played by the Aryan race in the creation and maintenance of civilized society. I came to see two directions that humanity could move in: back to the animals and wilderness we emerged from - or forward to the stars. Now I can't look at a starry night sky without thinking
"I must have millions of my children on all the planets around those stars!"
The alternative, fading back to savagery and senescence, is an abhorrent notion to me. And I see no third alternative, no "steady state" to society - like the 81st Precept of David Lane states,
"Nothing in Nature is static; either the life force grows and expands, or it decays and dies."
So, Forward is the only option I see, and "forward" means saving the authors of civilization, the Aryan race, from the destruction being wreaked upon it.

When reading many of his posts in Stormfront, VNN, or his own blog, one will note Noble's slavish devotion to David Lane's Eighty-Eight Precepts and the Twenty-Five Points of National Socialism. However, Noble has a few ideas of his own as well. In response to a thread in Stormfront entitled, "Europeans will die out in 200 years" Noble posts the following:

I recommend a three-step plan:

1) Nightfall. In which all racially aware Whites retreat to the far North, especially in Canada and Europe. We wait and watch as Jews and White lemmings alike are eaten alive by the rising tides of darkness, and civilization itself succumbs to savagery - hence 'Nightfall', as darkness swallows everything.

2) Sunrise. With no Jews to forbid us or teach us to hate ourselves, we advance and reclaim old territories, dealing with savages as savages are meant to be dealt with - and I don't mean dishing out welfare checks.

3) The Day of the Rope. Only a society with absolute dedication to proper justice can hope to prevent the lunacy of Liberalism from once more taking hold and making a mess like today's, with open doors for all immigrating aliens, and criminals having more rights than their victims.

I plan to take a wife and retreat to the forests of the North-West Territories. I shall build a log cabin for myself and my wife, and some greenhouses; and then I shall build more log cabins, and invite other WN couples to join us. Bring Peltin wheels and Alaskan sawmills. Strive, survive, succeed!

Who the hell talks like this? Yes, ladies, believe it or not, Bill is single, though you could hook up with, as he has posted his profile on an online dating site and seems to be actively seeking for someone to love and to hold on the Stormfront forums (check it out for the pure entertainment value it offers the reader).

Actually, the above quote highlights the fantasy world Bill Noble has created for himself. You see, if his plan to move up north to start his own little Elohim City doesn't work out, he does have an alternative plan; Antarctica or Mars. The following was posted in Stormfront under "Building a Bunker for RaHoWa" in the Stormfront Canada forum:

A harsher environment forges a harder people. The White race was forged in the womb that was Ice Age Europe. The two most appealing lands for White colonization are, in my opinion, Canada's Far North and Antarctica'.

[In response to Dankorp's question, "Just out of curiosity, how much research have you done on antartica'''".] Just basic reading on it. Temperatures get down to -80 Celsius; most food sources would be near the shore (penguins, seals, fish, etc.) other than what we could grow in greenhouses.

I think colonizing Antarctica would be great practice for preparing to colonize an inhospitable planet such as Mars.

Suffice it to say, some of the other posters were somewhat embarrassed by Noble's post, a sentiment summed up in the following message:

"It might also be a good plan to keep ideas that would make 99.9% of the population question your sanity to yourself."

Noble's other postings are also enlightening, if less amusing, such as his admiration of a mass murderer:

He shot at Flynt? After the Day of the Rope I say we build a 500 foot statue of Joseph Paul Franklin [Joseph Paul Franklin, who in the late 70s and early 80s engaged in a campaign of race-based homicides and shot porn king Larry Flynt].

Man, when I think of the goings-on at my place of employment... it'd be nice for someone like Joseph drop by for lunch.

I need to stop being Nice and start being more, um... Orderly [a reference to Robert Matthew's terrorist group, the Order.]

In the above quotes, one will notice a reference to the infamous, "day of the rope", a phrase popularized by William Pierce in his novel, The Turner Diaries. Noble claims not to advocate violence (he has stated that he has never read Pierce's book and is not familiar with what Pierce intended to mean when he wrote of the day of the rope). Given how deeply Noble has immersed himself in the racist movement, and given he has a hand drawn picture on his blog of one of the punishments he would mete out on this day of the rope (hanging certain classes of "criminals" with their own intestines), To us, this is a tad disingenuous.

As stated, Noble isn't a significant player in far right circles. However, he did add an interesting footnote in the case of Matt Hale who was recently convicted of trying to have a judge who ruled against him in a trademark suit murdered. Hale was convicted in part due to the testimony of Tony Evola, Hale's former bodyguard and a police informant. Noble, posting as Exterminance in the VNN Forums posted the address and phone number of Anthony Evola from outside Chicago, "In Case Anyone Wants To Say Hi" Of course, Evola was inundated with threatening messages that were left on his answering machine. The problem is, this was the WRONG Tony Evola (http://www.splcenter.org/intel/intelreport/article.jsp'pid=791).

Althought the original post has disappeared, Bill posted a follow-up in the VNN Forums:

I posted the address, having copied it from a post in Stormfront's 'lounge' only minutes after it appeared there. Apparently the original poster got it from Google. I really should have asked him about his sources before relaying the info.

Some of the harrassing callers most likely originated from viewing my posting of the info. Think I should phone up the innocent Mr. Evola and apologize, or should I just let it go and let him get some peace?

Noble is currently trying to recruit skinheads in the area for his own racist group; at this point the membership consists of Noble only. In fact, Noble appears to be styling himself as the next Fuhrer, his idol, as he has posted pictures of himself sporting a Hitler moustache.

In the interest of full disclosure, we should note that Noble has also taken an interest in little ol' us. He has made the claim (untrue) that posting the addresses and phone numbers of known racists is intended for the purposes of committing crimes against them. Noble's "OPP Watch" where he takes screen shots of posts in the forums, post them on his site, and analyses them, has been a source of amusement for a number of the members. Noble has been trying very hard to "expose" OPP as a violent organization. As part of his evidence he cites a post by former OPP forum member Jeff Huxton. There has been a strongly held contention that white power groups are funded by drugs and when one looks at James Mazzone, that contention gets some meat to it. Now you will not hear him among his Aryan Nations circles called by that name. There he is called Jim McManus, which is his father's name. The real name is Mazzone, the name he took from his stepfather, and that name does not have a good relationship with law enforcement.

He was behind bars in 1993 on drug convictions, and spent most of the 4-5 years in solitary confinement/administrative segregation. Reportedly that continues even today with a more recent arrest on drug charges, of which he was cleared of. Mazzone is Aryan Nations' New Jersey head, and according to a source who once lived with Mazzone, he supported the group for a while helping get Dick Butler to PA and back again with drug money. All financial help that they got from his was allegedly because of his selling drugs. If he goes, the Garden State may happily be out one hate group.

DLJ actually met Mazzone nine months before One People's Project launched. Mazzone was at a New York City Klan rally in October 1999 when DLJ was videotaping it for a public access show he was working on at the time. When he saw a man walking through the crowd of anti-racists with an Aryan Nations pin on his trenchcoat, he began peppering him with questions before members of the Revolutionary Communist Youth Brigade and other activists asked him to leave.

The funny thing about this is Mazzone does not have any animosity against people of other races or cultures. According to the aforementioned source, his beef has been with Jews, believing that they are trying to kill the white race. One of his best friends is a black man aged 44-50 named Tony. Tony drives a silver Saturn, can be seen regularly around North Bergen, and was Mazzone's supplier. It was also said that Mazzone himself reportedly supplied to several employees at Hulihans, right on the water near the statue of Liberty in New York, as well as to two police officers in Bergen County, and his ex wife, Ali Mazzone (who is Hispanic and not pure white) is both a supplier and customer to him. None of this has been confirmed, however.

NBC may want to start screening their stagehands too. James works off and on as a backstage hand for them (can you imagine a television program with the name of an Aryan Nations member in the credits?) as well as for concerts that are put on in the New York City area. His favorite restaurant that he frequents often is the Rainbow Buffet in Bergen, NJ that is an assortment of American and Chinese food.

Now there is a contention about a girfriend that we will note here in the interest of being square. We were told one girlfriend was a girl by the name of Rya who we were told was only 17. Mazzone flat out denies this however, saying that she was of 18 at the time and of age. We not sure if they are currently together, but as this has been something we have had on the site for over a year, we should mention what was told to us in the past few months.

By the way, Mazzone lives in North Bergen, the same town as his boy Hal Turner, the racist talk-shit host who also has a network where he broadcasts Aryan Nations' radio show on shortwave.

Mazzone was sitting in jail on a drug trafficking conviction until 2008.

If you want to know the source of all the hate routines California saw in from the late 70s to late 80s, look no further than the Metzgers. This father-son team run W.A.R. - White Aryan Resistance - from their home in Fallbrook, CA, not too far away from San Diego.

After spending the past decade off the radar screen however, they are now trying to make themselves relevant again.

Born on April 9, 1938 (he shares a birthday with Paul Robeson), Tom Metzger started out as a Republican Party worker in the sixties trying to get Barry Goldwater elected. He became more and more radical after that, joining groups such as the John Birch Society, the American Independent Party, and eventually the Ku Klux Klan, where he became the Grand Dragon. He formed W.A.R. after breaking from the KKK.

The positions of W.A.R. are as follows:

Their race is their religion, and the White race's protection and advancement is their number one issue.
Warfare for any other reason than to protect the White race is self destructive.
They support state-sponsored abortion for non-Whites but will oppose White abortion.
Neither Marxism or Capitialism are desirable economic systems, as both feed off the White race.
Homosexuals and interracial sex limits the White gene pool.
They deny the existance of inalienable rights.

Among the things that W.A.R. has done was publish a newspaper of the same name, and a public access television program called Race and Reason that has seen it share of opposition from cities that objected to the broadcasts on their cable outlets. They were able to beat back that oppostition citing the first ammendment they work to dismantle for everyone else.

Now Tom and his wife had six kids, five of them daughters. The one son was John, and he came into the scene as the president of W.A.R. Youth when Greg Withrow, then head of the White Student Union renounced his racist ideologies. For this, Withrow was attacked by youth loyal to John and nailed to a plank of wood (Withrow is now saying that all of this was just a ruse to infiltrate the left, but no one, not even his old comrades buy it). John has been around the world promoting white supremacy and was even barred from entering Germany for this. He and his father were incarcerated in Canada, incidentially when they went to that country to promote their ideals.

Like his father, John has appeared on a number of different programs, sometimes with dad, sometimes flying solo. He has appeared on an Oprah Winfrey's program which was so volatile, Oprah decided never to have white supremacists on her show again. He has also seen heated appearances on Wally George's program and on Donahue. John Metzger incidentially was the person Roy Innis was choking on that infamous Geraldo episode where the trash talk-show host had his nose broken.

The Metzgers were being dealt with however. In Portland OR, a young Ethiopian named Mulugeta Seraw was murdered by skinheads loyal to W.A.R. and the Metzgers were found liable to the tune of $12.5 million. Tom Metzger lost his home, TV repair shop and trailer that he used as a meeting hall. When he lost he said it didn't matter because he planted his seeds and that they are "imbedded now." That was probably a good thing for him because all this made him a relic afterwards. John Metzger hasn't been seen in a number of years, but Tom has been coming out to various WP events as of late. He even fired off an email to us in 2003. Did we see the last of the Metzgers? No, but that's just because we have pictures.
