Ann Coulter has unnerved her fellow right-wingers because of her knack for saying off-the-wall bullshit in the name of conservatism, and her popularity because of it. We really don't consider her a threat, and it is not just because of this. She also simply some profiteering showboater at play. Nothing she says or does has not been said or done without her getting paid to say or do it. Thing is, that doesn't matter either, even if she does indeed believe everything she says. She is seen by some far right circles as a champion for her cause - and that bothers those on the right who know that their crap does not fly and Coulter's mouth is more or less going to seal their fate should someone act on her crap. We so fucking dare them to.

After her comments about the Jersey Girls in her book Godless, we thought we should update her entry, but instead, we decided to hook everyone up with her latest address and leave it at that. If we documented every stupid thing this woman said to get attention, this entry might as well be the entire website. We know she's a shit-talker. We don't need to document every last bit of shit that she talks. We will however, note one curious thing that she has written recently. With the anti-immigration crowd basically being fueled by white supremacists who found a good way to get themselves into the mainstream, a lot of conservatives are coming out of their shell somewhat to warn people that if they don't do something about non-white immigration, that spells trouble for white people in America. Coulter, who before she became known as this controversal bombthrower or whatever was known as a pretty nasty racial antagonist (which we will get to shortly), went back to those roots in a June 6, 2007 column where she wrote this:

   "In 1960, whites were 90 percent of the country. The Census Bureau recently estimated that whites already account for less than two-thirds of the population and will be a minority by 2050. Other estimates put that day much sooner.
   
   One may assume the new majority will not be such compassionate overlords as the white majority has been. If this sort of drastic change were legally imposed on any group other than white Americans, it would be called genocide. Yet whites are called racists merely for mentioning the fact that current immigration law is intentionally designed to reduce their percentage in the population."

One, we are hard-pressed to find anything that says that today's immigration laws are "intentionally designed" to reduce the white percentage, and we would love to see Ann show us where she got that. She won't obviously, as she is part of that conservative crowd who think they can say stupid things like that without backing them up. Two, as a blog recently pointed out:

   "White people have not been forcibly relocated, shoved into concentration camps and reservations or murdered en masse. Before one starts spouting off about the "white genocide" being undertaken by allowing non-white people to come into the country, one should, perhaps, ask a Jew, an Armenian or a Native American if they'd have preferred living side-by-side with German, Turkish or white majorities to being murdered indiscriminately based on their ethnicity and religion."

It's kind of pointless to even get into a rational discussion about Ann Coulter, though. We already know she doesn't know what she is talking about, and that is why we say to let us have what we have already written serve as a good primer for this harpy. Ann Hart Coulter was born and raised in New Canaan, Connecticut by her parents John V. Coulter and Nell M. Coulter, and has two older brothers, James M. Coulter and John Coulter. Ann Coulter was born on December 8, 1961 according to the New Canaan voting registration office, but a controversy started when the Washington Post reported she had a Washington D.C. driver's license with her birthdate listed as December 8, 1963.

As a lawyer, Coulter served as legal counsel to Sen. Spencer Abraham on the Senate Judiciary Committee and did a stint as an attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice. She also has practiced corporate law and clerked for the Eighth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. She has also worked as an attorney at the Center for Individual Rights, a conservative, public-interest law firm; that has filed lawsuits against the University of Michigan contending that some white students were passed over for admission in favor of black students, and defended (unsuccessfully) a white professor at Florida A&M who was fired after telling his students to avoid "what some would call a 'nigger mentality'-the sort of thinking that can keep us all on the back of the bus forever."

Coulter went on from here to a career as political pundit, and was originally best known as one of the many right-wingers that has made a living bashing Former President Bill Clinton. Her book, 'High Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Case Against Bill Clinton', spent eight weeks on the New York Times bestseller list in 1998 and was widely praised by Judge Robert Bork, columnist George Will and many others. The book was cited in numerous editorials calling for President Clinton's resignation. She is a staple on the talk show circuit, appearing on such shows as ABC's This Week and Good Morning America, NBC's Today Show, Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, CNN's Larry King Live, CNBC's Rivera Live, and Equal Time, among others. She also has been dubbed one of the 20 Most Fascinating Women in Politics by George magazine and profiled in such diverse publications as the Washington Post, National Journal, New York magazine, TV Guide, Harper's Bazaar and Capital Style.

Now if she was just a Clinton-basher we would not care. We kind of like people who bash Clinton. We should note that we don't think too highly of her assertions that he "masturbates in the sinks" or "if you don't hate Clinton in office, you don't love your country." We also think that she is pretty hypocritical in her attacks on Clinton for his rather active libido. This is a woman who brags about how the publishers of her book used her sexuality to sell her book, and she has also been called out as a little bed-hopper herself, among her noted conquests Bob Guccione Jr., the estranged son of the founder of Penthouse, and himself the founder of Spin magazine and current publisher of Gear magazine. We are not going to dwell on such matters here though.

Like we said, we don't mind the Clinton-bashing. In Coulter's case however, as is the case with many Clinton-bashers, there is always the other agenda to contend with, the part where they use their Clinton-bashing to further their bashing of the rest of us. That part of the agenda is often a vicious, sick routine and Coulter displayed that when she wrote about the bombings at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Saying that "it is preposterous to assume every passenger is a potential crazed homicidal maniac," (never mind the fact that looking at everyone as a potential security risk is how security works - and if she is still dating that FBI agent he should tell her that), Coulter joined the ranks of those disparaging Arabs and Muslims and turned the tragedy into a holy war.

   "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity," she said in her most infamous quote after 9/11. "We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war."

She had another reference to the Nazis in that same piece. Bellyaching further about how everyone regardless of whatever background they may be of is getting searched the same way, she wrote,

   "This would be like having the Wehrmacht immigrate to America and work for our airlines during World War II. Except the Wehrmacht was not so bloodthirsty." 

Tell that to the tens of thousands of servicemen, as well as those innocents the Wehrmacht encountered when they invaded their countries that lost their lives by their hands, Ann. Incidentally, The Jewish World Review, which publishes most of her columns, did not publish this one.

9/11 gave Coulter the excuse she need to support things that would not otherwise see support. In an appearance at Johns Hopkins University on Oct. 9 2003, one of those things was racial profiling. Now since 9/11, other right-wingers have used the tragedy to justify violating human rights via this practice. It was met with huge opposition when applied to African Americans, so that angle was not the most politically viable. Defend it in the name of national security, and that changes so significantly even African Americans support it! Coulter took it too far however.

   "In the past twenty years, one-hundred percent of terrorist attacks against this country have been by Muslim extremists," she said. "Naturally, the Democrats won't let us look for Muslim extremists. When there is a one-hundred percent chance that the next terrorist attack will be made by a Muslim extremist, it's no longer a profile, it's a description of the suspect." 

In the past twenty years, we have seen Christian extremists bomb abortion clinics, kill their workers, and kill homosexuals. We have neo-Nazi groups and individuals engage in shooting sprees, bombings, and armed robberies. And let us not forget the right-wing Oklahoma City bombing in 1995. Her opinion on that act of terrorism is quite different than the ones where she can blame Arabs instead of whites.

   "My only regret with Timothy McVeigh," she told the New York Observer, "is he did not go to the New York Times Building." 

That's right 168 people, many of them children in a day care center lost their lives to the act of a white supremacist, and Coulter's biggest complaint was that he didn't choose a bigger target. Understand now why other right-wingers are edging away from her?

Oh, another thing about Coulter's comments on domestic terrorism. She justifies racial profiling and discrimination in America against all Muslims based on the 9/11 attacks, but being the hatemonger that she is, she never mentioned that white Americans should be discriminated and targeted based on the profiles of the terrorists of the Oklahoma City bombing.

As we have no doubt established, Coulter is a flat-out right-wing fanatic, and she is so driven by that type of agenda she has no regard for any type of reason. This tends to result in some of the most pathetic positions expressed by her on television, in her columns and in speaking engagements. It has also cost her jobs. She was later canned at the National Review for her anti-Muslim attacks, but there was also the stint she had at MSNBC where there were some fire works. When U.S. Ambassador Pamela Harriman died, Coulter used the occasion to, in an ironic twist given the similar charges against her, accuse her of sleeping her way to the top, saying,

   "Women like Pamela Harriman and (actress) Patricia Duff are basically Anna Nicole Smith from the waist down. Let's just call it for what it is. They're whores." 

That remark won her a probation at MSNBC, but she was out on her ass altogether when later she snapped at a disabled Vietnam vet she was debating on a program, saying "people like you caused us to lose that war."

There was also her appearance in April, 2001 at Cornell University where she defended the Confederate flag. Prior to this appearance, she had written a column suggesting that slavery had existed longer under the Stars and Stripes than under the Stars and Bars, that the flag symbolized more than the slavery cause ("It stands for a romantic image of a chivalric, honor-based culture that was driven down by the brute force of crass Yankee capitalism?"), and no one supported slavery in this day and age so flying the flag should not be a concern. Her engagement stirred up a bit of controversy among the students, tensions flaring even more when on the morning of her speech, students living in Ujamaa Residential College (whose residents come from various ethnic backgrounds) left their building to find disturbing messages scrawled on the sidewalk outside their campus home. These messages included "Remove Ujamaa," "Remove Africana" and "Stop Racism: Tear Down Ujamaa Now." Members of the Cornell Review, who cosponsored the Coulter speech, admitted doing the chalkings.

This speaking engagement brought a huge number of persons who wanted to call her on the comments on the flag and something else that was in that particular column. Coulter also supports slavery revisionism, the latest thing among conservatives where they suggest that black persons are responsible for slavery in America. "Slavery, as Joe Sobran has remarked, is the only African institution America has ever adopted," she wrote, making reference to a columnist routinely admonished for his anti-Semitic views and white supremacist connections. Once, during an episode of Politically Incorrect, Coulter even said that the Emancipation Proclamation is among laws she felt should be repealed. During one moment in her discussion at Cornell, she repeated the assertion in the column that European slave traders bought Africans who were already enslaved, saying, "It wasn't as if the traders ran into the jungle and kidnapped their victims." That ignorant remark was met with a huge uproar by students who immediately saw her as an apologist for those slave traders-as well as damned ignorant (contrary to the revisionist opinion, the Portuguese were kidnapping Africans as of the 1440s and by the 17th Century, the Bristols were doing it as well). It wasn't long before Coulter was heckled off the stage, not to mention the target of some in the crowd throwing fruit at her.

Of course her lambasting at this event gave her hero marks among her colleagues on the Right. One fellow racist ignoramus, David Horowitz of the Center for the Study of Popular Culture even had the nerve to suggest that the inference of the word jungle-not the actual statement itself-was what angered the attendees!

Coulter doesn't have too much love lost for African Americans to begin with. When Bob Jones University was in the news for its racist practices, Coulter defended its interpretation of the Bible as banning interracial dating by saying it's a, "big country. There's room for all sorts of interpretations." When Clinton was contemplating the office in Harlem, she had more than a few snide remarks. "As one of my friends remarked, that should be nice," she opined. "Having escaped a mugging on the way to work, Clinton's female employees will then have to face an accused rapist in the office." She suggested also that Clinton would never actually use the office, and therefore not even be in the neighborhood, but it will not bother "his devoted African-American public" stating, "If they're not mad at Clinton for calling himself the 'first black president,' they are incapable of being insulted."

Actually, writer Toni Morrison suggested that Bill Clinton was probably the "first black president", but when you're Ann Coulter, why get your facts straight?

While Coulter doesn't have love for African Americans to begin with, she simply flat out hates anyone who is not white like her. Returning to her frequent attacks on Muslims, she uses 9/11 as an excuse to trash on anyone who comes from outside America or Western Europe. In an April 2004 speech for one of her primary employers, Young America's Foundation, Ann justifies racial profiling and discrimination on airlines against people of South Asian (India, Bangledesh, ...) and South East Asian (Cambodia, Thailand,...) descent, as well as against Muslims. She then attacked Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta, a Japanese American who himself lived through the horrors of racial profiling during World War II when he nor his family nor the overwhelming number of Japanese Americans interned were not guilty of treason, for opposing racial profiling and discrimination. With her typical resentment of seeing anyone who is not white achieve power or status in America, Ann Coulter then calls for the resignation of Norman Mineta, sparking protests and drawing enemies as usual from many Asian American civil rights groups.

Something to consider. Coulter's brand of right-wing sensationalism has avoided taking shots at African Americans in the past few years, but some of the more academic white supremacist types are thinking that it is only a matter of time. Her support for racial profiling for Arab people speaks to that. It is not exactly a quantum leap to extend that to others, especially those it was originally meant for. She will truly be a low piece of shit is she tries to profit from race-baiting, but we already know that about her.

Ann Coulter is particularly striking and charismatic, just like other right-wing success stories like Mussolini and Hitler, but this one isn't going to go that far.
